Panel

Using paneling tools in Rhino, I modeled a 3d panel which I then constructed a physical model of using a laser cutter.

This is the underlying plane I used to create the panel.

This is a custom 3d part that I first created the panel with. However, the only way I could get the panel I created with it to unroll was by unrolling each piece individually. So, I moved on to preset paneling options.

These are a few of the options I experimented with. The panel in the bottom left is the one that I ultimately constructed.

I unrolled the surfaces and added planar lips to each part, and then labeled the individual pieces in order to laser cut them. However, the translation from digital to physical model turned out to be a difficult one for me. Ultimately, I realized I should have used a thinner material, and problems with the labeling utility led to an unnecessarily difficult construction.
